Blackpool release Chris Eagles

Blackpool decide to release winger Chris Eagles following a two-month stint with the club.

Blackpool manager Lee Clark has confirmed that the club will not retain the services of Chris Eagles.

The 30-year-old arrived at Bloomfield Road in November, when he signed a contract that expires today.

The winger recently suggested that he would like to extend his stay with the Championship strugglers, but Clark has revealed that he has more pressing concerns.

"We'll not be renewing Chris's contract, we'll be using the finance for that one elsewhere. We've got other areas where we need to strengthen," he told the club's official website.

Eagles made seven starts for the Seasiders, from which he scored one goal.
