Kevin Davies waiting for new contract

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies reveals that the club are yet to open discussions with him over a new contract.

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies has revealed that the club are yet to offer him a new deal.

His current contract is due to expire in the summer when he will be able to leave the Reebok Stadium on a free transfer.

However, the striker believes that the club's lowly position in the Premier League table could be the main reason in their reluctance to open up discussions.

"There has been no discussion at the moment, but what will be, will be. Everyone knows what I feel about the club," he told the Bolton News. "It isn't something I'm really thinking about. I just want to move us out of this situation in the league.

"When the club decide to open talks might depend on the league position.

"If we are going to find ourselves in a relegation battle with a few games to go then that could have some bearing on whether the chairman is going to be offering contracts."

The 34-year-old joined the Trotters in 2003 from Southampton.
