Preview: Borussia Dortmund vs. Augsburg

Sports Mole takes a look at the preparations of both sides ahead of Tuesday's Bundesliga clash between Borussia Dortmund and Augsburg.

Borussia Dortmund have another chance to climb out of the Bundesliga relegation zone when they host Augsburg on Tuesday night.

A dismal first half of the season included 10 defeats for Jurgen Klopp's side, who remain in the battle to avoid the drop.

Dortmund returned from the winter break with a goalless draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, but even a promising display against Champions League hopefuls couldn't prevent them from dropping to the bottom of the table.

Despite showing signs of improvement in the stalemate with Leverkusen, Klopp will be fully aware that only wins will be enough to change the concerned mood which surrounds the club.

Another challenge will arrive against Juventus later in February, and Dortmund will be eager to enjoy a successful run of results before turning their attention to the Champions League.

Changes are expected from Klopp, but the good news is that Marco Reus is set to start his second successive game after returning from an ankle injury on the weekend.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was an unused substitute after his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, and the attacker is likely to be given a recall for Dortmund's second Bundesliga match of 2015.

Augsburg's season has been just as surprising as Dortmund's campaign, but at the other end of the table Markus Weinzierl's side remain locked in a battle for European football.

A 3-1 win over Hoffenheim on the weekend moved the Bavarian club up to fifth, and they head into the game at Signal Iduna Park level on points with third-placed Borussia Monchengladbach.

Weinzierl will be forced into one change due to an injury to Alexander Esswein, and Ji Dong-won looks set to replace the the midfielder.

A 3-2 victory over Augsburg in August is one of just four wins Dortmund have managed to record in the Bundesliga this season.
