Eddie Howe "positive" over Harry Arter fitness

Bournemouth boss Harry Arter reveals that the injury to midfielder Harry Arter is not as bad as they feared.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has revealed that Harry Arter's injury is not as bad as first feared.

The 25-year-old has not been able to take part in the club's pre-season regime so far after picking up hip and groin injuries during the Republic of Ireland's match against England in June.

Reports last week suggested that Arter might miss the opening two matches of the new Premier League season, but Howe hinted that he could now be in line to make the first game of the campaign at home to Aston Villa on August 8.

"Hopefully Harry will not be out for too long. We've had some positive news this week with his recovery," Howe is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"If he was to be out long term, we would be left with four recognised central-midfielders, which could leave us light in that area."

The newly-promoted Cherries have brought in six new signings this summer in preparation for their debut top-flight campaign.
