Nigel Pearson urges Leicester City to "respect" Burnley

Nigel Pearson urges Leicester City to show "respect" to Burnley when they welcome the Clarets to the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has said that he "fully expects" Burnley to compete against every side in the Premier League this year.

On Saturday, the Foxes host the side that finished second to them in the Championship last season, but their respective starts to the current campaign have been very different so far.

While Leicester have gained eight points from six matches, getting results against the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Manchester United in the process, Burnley have netted just one goal and lie bottom of the table without a win.

However, Pearson has warned his side to show "respect" for Saturday's visitors.

"We expect it to be a tough game," the 51-year-old manager told the club's official website.

"We know them from last season. They were a side that did exceptionally well based on not just a hard-working ethic, but they showed qualities last year of being mentally and technically competitive and I would fully expect them to show that throughout this season as well.

"We are very conscious of the fact that whoever we play we need to give due respect to."

This is Pearson's second spell in charge of Leicester, having previously managed them from 2008 to 2010.
