Burnley full-back Kieran Trippier eyes England call-up

Kieran Trippier eyes a call-up to the England squad if he can continue his form with Burnley in the Premier League next season.

Kieran Trippier has got his eye on a call-up to the England squad if he can continue to impress with Burnley in the Premier League next season.

The 23-year-old was one of the Clarets' star players last season as they earned automatic promotion by finishing second in the Championship.

He now wants to kick on in the top flight and impress England manager Roy Hodgson, who has been short of options at right-back in recent months.

"I want to be a Premier League player and stay there as long as I can," Trippier told the Clarets' website after signing a new contract at the weekend.

"That means doing well next year and the year after and hopefully even catch the England manager's eye.

"It's every player's dream to play for England one day and hopefully I can start the new season brightly and perhaps get the nod."

Trippier played in all but five of Burnley's league games in 2013-14, scoring one goal and contributing 14 assists - the second-most in the Championship.

He was also named in the Championship PFA Team of the Year.
