Burnley announce that Lyle Foster has put pen to paper on a fresh five-year contract at Turf Moor, committing his future to the Clarets until the summer of 2028.

Burnley have announced that striker Lyle Foster has signed a new five-year deal at Turf Moor, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2028.

The 23-year-old moved to England from Belgian Pro League outfit Westerlo in the January transfer window, earning his first start in an FA Cup clash against Ipswich Town.

Foster played 11 times and found the net once in the Championship last term as the Clarets cantered to the title under Vincent Kompany, finishing ahead of second-placed Sheffield United.

The forward is also a regular for his national side, having scored four goals in 13 caps for South Africa since making his debut in April 2018.

In the build-up to Burnley's trip to fellow strugglers Bournemouth, the Clarets announced that Foster has put pen to paper on fresh terms in Lancashire.

The former Monaco man has signed a fresh five-year deal at Turf Moor after an impressive start to the campaign, committing his long-term future to the top-flight newcomers.

Foster is Burnley's top goalscorer in the Premier League so far this term, netting three strikes in seven games as the Clarets seek to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

Speaking to the club's official website after agreeing to extend his stay at Turf Moor, Foster expressed his delight and contentment in England since joining earlier in the year.

"I'm very happy to stay here. It's a club with very good people and I have really enjoyed working here and I'm pleased to extend my stay," Foster told the media after putting pen to paper on a new contract.

"The supporters, Turf Moor, everything here. The way we organise ourselves and our standards something I fell in love with. It's a club that pushes towards excellence and that's something I want to be a part of."

Despite Foster's promising start to the campaign, his side have struggled to collect points on their return to the top flight, currently sitting in the bottom three, however the South African is confident that the Clarets can turn their fortunes around.

"I'm trying to stay focussed and continue working hard. It's a long season with lots of tough games but as time goes on I think we will grow stronger," claimed Foster earlier this week.

"We will have a good season. I have plenty of belief and confidence within the squad, the coaches and everyone around the building. There is no need to stress. Just enjoy what we're doing and there's a recipe for success."

Foster was set to start at the focal point of Burnley's attack on Saturday afternoon at the Vitality Stadium against Bournemouth, however the striker has missed out due to illness.

The Clarets travel to Goodison Park in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, when Foster could be back in contention to help fire his side into the fourth round.
