Cambridge United boss Shaun Derry taking "positives" from defeat

There were "positives" for Cambridge United to take from their 3-2 loss at home to Accrington Stanley, according to new manager Shaun Derry.

Manager Shaun Derry has insisted that there were some "positives" to be taken from Cambridge United's 3-2 defeat at home to Accrington Stanley yesterday afternoon.

It was a result that inflicted a second straight loss on the new Cambridge boss, who recently replaced Richard Money in the hotseat.

However, despite the fact that his side spurned a 2-1 lead, Derry has refused to be overly downbeat.

"There were signs today of what could happen at this football club. I have to take the positives out of the game because I felt it was very honest performance," he told the club's official website.

"We have to stick to our beliefs and the players understand that my demands are very high but not unrealistic.

"When I first joined the club, I said that I didn't want us to be a team on the back-foot and we certainly took the game to Accrington today, especially during the first half."

Next up for the U's is a trip to Morecambe on Tuesday evening.
