Cambridge United make double loan swoop

Sheffield United's Terry Kennedy and Gillingham's Ben Williamson join Cambridge United on loan until early January.

New manager Shaun Derry has made two loan additions to his Cambridge United squad.

The first player to arrive at the Abbey Stadium was Sheffield United's 22-year-old defender Terry Kennedy.

He has been joined in Cambridgeshire by striker Ben Williamson, who failed to score in any of his 14 appearances for Gillingham this term.

"Both players will have to fight for the right to play, but the fact they bring additional competition to the group should increase the intensity of the squad," Derry told the club's official website.

The duo have agreed to remain with League Two Cambridge until January 3.
