Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 'We lacked quality in defeat to Middlesbrough'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that a lack of confidence is preventing Cardiff City from creating "moments of quality" following the 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that a lack of confidence was behind Cardiff City's inability to create "moments of quality" in the 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

Cardiff were jeered by their own supporters after a fourth game passed without a win, and Solskjaer admitted that very little went right for the Bluebirds as Kike's early effort condemned them to another loss.

"We just did not get going," the Norwegian told members of the media. "Our first attack looked promising and then we got countered and conceded.

"The first half was very poor, we got more second balls in the second half and we pushed them back, but we did not create any moments of quality to open them up which was very disappointing.

"But confidence only comes from performances and results and without it you are unable to make those quick decisions in the heat of battle and it cost us."

Cardiff are now 17th in the Championship with eight points from seven games.
