Greg Abbott wants Mike Edwards aggression

Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott wants centre-back Mike Edwards to show "anger and determination" next season.

Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott has called on Mike Edwards to show "anger and determination" as the defender attempts to regain his spot in the side next season.

The 33-year-old has not played since January after suffering a hamstring injury, failing to win his place back in the side in the latter stages of the campaign.

"I hope Mike comes back with an anger and determination to prove himself," he told the News & Star.

"He has had issues with settling in as he has been away from his family, but he is going to get accommodation up here and have his family up on a more regular basis.

"That is always difficult but I hope he thinks he has got a point to prove and can push the other two very, very hard for a starting place."

Edwards joined the club from Notts County in 2012.
