The Football Association of Ireland have confirmed that Roy Keane has opted against becoming the new manager of Celtic.
The former Manchester United midfielder had held talks with officials from the Scottish champions over the last few days, but reports leaked earlier today that he had informed them that he no longer wanted to be considered a candidate for the vacancy.
In response to that speculation, the FAI tweeted this afternoon:
Roy Keane has confirmed that he will travel to the US after deciding not to pursue talks with @celticfc any further. #COYBIG

Keane, 42, took on the assistant manager's role to Martin O'Neill with the Republic of Ireland in November last year.
