Chelsea interim coach Roberto Di Matteo has described his side's performance as "almost perfect" after they beat Barcelona 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie at Stamford Bridge.

Didier Drogba's strike at the end of the first half was enough to secure the Blues an unlikely win over the reigning champions in London.

"It was almost perfect. It's a great result for us," Di Matteo told ITV Sport.

"When you play Barcelona you have to do a lot of defending and they have all the possession, you have to limit their threat and be clinical when you get your chances.

"This group of players has shown the determination and courage to play against the top team in the world and they showed their quality."

Chelsea travel to the Nou Camp for the second leg on Tuesday.
