Oscar omitted from Copa America squad

Injury prevents Oscar from earning a place in the Brazil squad for the Copa America in Chile.

Brazil have left Chelsea midfielder Oscar out of their squad for the Copa America in Chile.

Oscar picked up an injury in training with the Premier League champions, and after consulting the club's medical staff, Brazil head coach Dunga has confirmed that the 23-year-old will not be available for the tournament.

Al-Ahli's Everton Ribeiro benefits from Oscar's omission by claiming a place in the squad, while Robinho has also been successful in his bid to earn a spot.

Neymar is the star name among the attackers, and Hoffenheim's Roberto Firmino has been rewarded for his fine form in the Bundesliga with the opportunity to add to his four caps.

Brazil will begin their tournament against Peru on June 14.

Brazil squad in full: Jefferson (Botafogo), Diego Alves (Valencia), Marcelo Grohe (Gremio), David Luiz (PSG), Marquinhos (PSG), Thiago Silva (PSG), Miranda (Atletico Madrid), Danilo (Porto), Fabinho (Monaco), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Filipe Luis (Chelsea), Luiz Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Fernandinho (Manchester City), Elias (Corinthians), Casemiro (Porto), Everton Ribeiro (Al-Alhi), Douglas Costa (Shakhtar Donetsk), Willian (Chelse), Coutinho (Liverpool), Neymar (Barcelona), Diego Tardelli (Shandong Luneng), Robinho (Santos), Roberto Firmino (Hoffenheim)
