A number of Chelsea players reportedly became frustrated with playing on the same side of the pitch as head coach Thomas Tuchel.

A number of Chelsea players reportedly became annoyed by Thomas Tuchel's touchline antics before his departure on Wednesday morning.

A day after the Blues succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, the club announced that they had parted company with their head coach.

Graham Potter has since been named as the German's replacement at Stamford Bridge, the Brighton & Hove Albion man penning a five-year contract.

However, despite Chelsea moving swiftly to fill the vacant position, reports continue to emerge regarding issues behind the scenes.

According to the Daily Mail, a number of Chelsea players had grown tired of playing directing in front of the dugout.

The report suggests that several players did not want to be used on the flank or did not want to be involved in the action within close proximity of their boss.

Members of the senior squad allegedly disliked the level of criticism and demands which were aimed at them during the course of a match.

While Chelsea largely play with wing-backs who have generally impressed in their roles, Tuchel had minimal success when it came to getting the best out of his attack-minded players.

Timo Werner was allowed to leave for RB Leipzig, Callum Hudson-Odoi has joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan, and each of Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic were heavily linked with exits before ultimately remaining in West London.

Tuchel has also not been a stranger to confrontation on the touchline this season, most notably with Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Antonio Conte.

Although the first of several incidents was arguably instigated by Conte celebrating his team's first equaliser, the pair were involved in several flashpoints.

On Tuesday night, Tuchel also cut a frustrated figure as the Blues failed to respond to conceding an early goal against Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.

The 49-year-old has departed Chelsea having recorded 60 wins and 16 defeats during his 100 matches in charge.
