Reports suggest that Roman Abramovich wants Marseille boss Didier Deschamps to be the new manager at Chelsea.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly held talks with Marseille coach Didier Deschamps regarding taking over as manager at Stamford Bridge.

Following the dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas, Roberto Di Matteo has taken over and impressed in a temporary role.

However, it is understood that Abramovich is not keen on handing the Italian the job on a permanent basis. Other reported targets are former boss Jose Mourinho and Barcelona's Pep Guardiola, although it is considered unlikely that either would leave Spain for London.

The Telegraph now claims that Abramovich has turned his attentions to fomer Juvetus boss Deschamps, who led Marseille to the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season.

It is believed that Deschamps would be open to a switch to the Premier League, having grown frustrated at Marseille due to a lack of funding.

The 43-year-old has been at Marseille since 2009.
