Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has said that he is "pleased" with his side's performance during the 5-1 victory over Newcastle United this evening.
The Blues scored three goals in the opening 20 minutes at Stamford Bridge to take complete control of the contest before going on to pick up a comfortable victory and extend their unbeaten run under Hiddink.
The Dutchman revealed that it was part of the gameplan to make a quick start, and he was happy with how his side played throughout in both attack and defence.
"We can be pleased with the performance of the guys. We tried to surprise them in the beginning. Happily it worked out," Hiddink told BBC Sport.
"It's important for the way we played, not just in attack. The players also have to do defensive work and that is where we are aiming and then the quality comes out."
Chelsea's win is their first at home in the league since Hiddink returned to the club.
