Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that Frank Lampard's absence from their 1-0 win against Singha All Star XI was merely precautionary.
Lampard was pitch-side during the game sporting a heavily strapped ankle, but Mourinho said that the injury was not serious and his omission from the game should not worry fans.
"He was feeling discomfort on his Achilles, so we decided he wouldn't play," Mourinho told reporters.
"In competition you have to risk sometimes; in pre-season, no. The worst thing that can happen is an injury while taking a risk.
"It's just good to be back, but I'm waiting for Hull City, my first match when we play for points."
Hull visit the Blues in their opening game of the Premier League on August 18.
