Willian: 'I can be Chelsea's hero'

Willian tells Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho that he can be the Blues' goalscoring hero as his star-studded teammates continue to shy away from the limelight.

Chelsea winger Willian has insisted that he can cope with the pressure of being his team's go-to guy this season as his red-hot form continues.

The Brazilian netted an 83rd-minute free kick as the stuttering Blues put their Premier League woes to one side by beating Dynamo Kiev 2-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

With five goals, Willian is Chelsea's leading goalscorer in a season which has seen the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard yet to hit top form, but the 27-year-old is more than happy with his new-found responsibility.

"It is one of the best goals I've scored in my career," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"We knew it was a must-win match and it was a big relief when we got that second goal. We are looking forward now to getting back to winning ways.

"I know the more goals I score the more pressure will be on me. But I am quite confident and ready to deal with this pressure."

The Premier League champions sit 14 points behind co-leaders Manchester City and Arsenal in 15th place following a disastrous start to their title defence.
