Emmanuel Adebayor: John Terry can handle pressure

Emmanuel Adebayor says that John Terry can handle the pressure of his latest crisis.

Emmanuel Adebayor has said that he believes that John Terry can handle the pressure of his latest crisis.

The England and Chelsea captain was charged by the Crown Prosecution Service this week of allegedly racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

Tottenham striker Adebayor said that Terry coped well with the pressure of the allegations during Spurs' 1-1 draw with Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Thursday.

"This is not the first time John Terry has had problems in his life, so I think he knows how to deal with them by now," he said.

"We are all human beings and we all have our problems but when you put the shirt on you have to deal with it.

"It is difficult to handle all these things in your head but when you are part of a club you have to manage these distractions."

Despite the allegations, Adebayor admitted that Terry showed great strength during the Premier League clash.

"You must show your respect for the other ten players by doing whatever it takes," he added.

"This week I think Terry showed good personality and great character to play so well.

"You deal with all these things through experience, and Terry now knows how to handle them."

Terry, who denies the charges, is due to appear before a West London magistrates court on February 1.
