Result: Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Rafael van der Vaart scores twice for Tottenham Hotspur as Blackburn Rovers drop to the bottom of the Premier League.

Rafael van der Vaart produced a match-winning performance for Tottenham Hotspur away at Blackburn Rovers this afternoon.

The Dutch international scored a goal in either half to cancel out Mauro Formica's equaliser before the break.

Van der Vaart's first of the afternoon came with 15 minutes on the clock, although a large part of the credit goes to the full-back Kyle Walker. The youngster set off on a run down the right hand side, before crossing to Van der Vaart, who instantly shot past Paul Robinson.

With the pressure mounting on Steve Kean, striker Formica went about reliving some of the stress on his manager when he turned in Cristopher Samba's flick-on in the 28th minute.

However, the Blackburn faithful would soon be calling for Kean's head after the restart when Van der Vaart pounced once again. The midfielder collected possession 20 yards from goal and unleashed a curling left-footed effort into the top corner of the net with 53 minutes played.

Substitute Yakubu spurned Rovers' best chance of claiming something from the match when he shot straight at Brad Friedel.

With the loss Kean's men have slumped to the bottom of the Premier League.
