Andros Townsend plays as Tottenham Hotspur's Under-21s lose to Chelsea

Chelsea's Under-21 team beat their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts 5-4 in a thrilling match between the two capital rivals on Monday evening.

Want-away Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Andros Townsend scored a brace for Spurs' Under-21 team on Monday, but could not prevent his side from suffering a late 5-4 defeat to capital rivals Chelsea.

It was Chelsea that took the lead on the night - Tammy Abraham converting a cross from the right - but Spurs were level just two minutes later when Shaq Coulthirst's looping header found the top corner.

Chelsea were back in front in the 23rd minute courtesy of Fikayo Tomori and just two minutes into the second period, the visitors led 3-1 when Abraham picked out Kasey Palmer, who steered the ball into the bottom corner.

In the 72nd minute, Spurs had a lifeline through Milos Veljkovic, but Chelsea then went 4-2 ahead through Jay DaSilva in the 82nd minute.

Townsend, who is expected to leave White Hart Lane this month, scored from the spot in the 86th minute and added another two minutes later, however, and it appeared that the hosts had done enough to secure a share of the spoils.

The scoring was not finished though, and Chelsea won it in the third minute of stoppage time when Jake Clarke-Salter found the bottom corner with an effort from close range.
