Report: No emergency Jose Mourinho meeting at Chelsea

The Chelsea board have not held an emergency meeting to discuss Jose Mourinho's future, according to a report.

Contrary to earlier speculation, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly not called an emergency board meeting to discuss the future of Jose Mourinho.

Under Mourinho's guidance, the Blues have made the worst title defence in Premier League history this season, with just one point separating themselves and the relegation zone.

There had been a suggestion overnight that the Russian businessman had summoned his four-person management team to vote on whether they should keep faith with the 52-year-old.

However, according to Sky Sports News, no such meeting has taken place between Abramovich and his aides.

The report adds, though, that Mourinho's future was a topic of conversation at board level in the wake of Monday evening's 2-1 defeat at Leicester City - Chelsea's ninth of the season.

Providing that he is still in charge, on Saturday Mourinho's men will take on Sunderland.
