Report: Chelsea plot Marco Verratti move

A Spanish report claims that Jose Mourinho is hoping to bolster his midfield options at Chelsea by signing Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti as the ideal player to turn the club's ailing season around.

The champions have lost nine of their 16 Premier League outings this term, which has left them in 16th position and just one point above the relegation zone.

In a bid to reverse his side's fortunes, Mundo Deportivo has claimed that Mourinho will turn to PSG's Italy international.

The report adds that the Ligue 1 club could be tempted to part with the 23-year-old to help fund their pursuit of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

Verratti is yet to score from his 16 appearances in all competitions this season.
