Barcelona are reportedly looking to offer full-back Alejandro Balde a new contract, in hope of fending off interest from Chelsea.
The youngster has enjoyed a breakout season this term, becoming a regular both for Barcelona and the Spanish national team.
After making his international debut during the World Cup in Qatar, the 19-year-old has continued to start ahead of stalwart Jordi Alba at club level.
Spanish outlet Sport claims that manager Xavi has been very impressed with Balde, and sees him as the future of his side, with Alba now 34.
The club are said to be in negotiations with Balde's agent Jorge Mendes over a deal which would keep the left-back at the club until 2027.
Mendes is alleged to have been stalling the deal in recent months due to certain details in the contract, but there is a belief that the two parties want to come to an agreement on a new deal.
With Balde one for the future, Barca are also set to implement a €1bn (£880m) release clause to fend off interest from other clubs.
Chelsea were one club thought to be looking into a deal for Balde, as they look to improve their squad further after a difficult season, but the Spaniard looks set to stay in Catalonia.
