Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez admits that Fernando Torres will spend a lot more time on the subs' bench during the second half of the season, as the Blues introduce another centre-forward to their squad.

Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez has admitted that Fernando Torres is likely to find himself spending a lot more time on the substitutes' bench during the second half of the season.

Torres has started all 19 of the Blues' Premier League games so far this term, scoring seven goals.

However, Chelsea intend to increase competition for places by buying a new striker during the January transfer window.

Benitez insists that Torres understands his current position in the team will be rotated with the new arrival.

"We are trying to manage the team so when I can change Fernando I will do it," said Benitez. "We will try to manage him and hopefully we can do things properly.

"He wants the team winning games and he understands that is the way, so he will accept this."

Chelsea's reported targets include Radamel Falcao, Demba Ba and Andre Schurrle.
