West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke insists there have been no talks about Romelu Lukaku's future, but admits that he would like him to stay at the club.

West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke has revealed that there have been no talks with Chelsea regarding Romelu Lukaku's immediate future.

The Belgian striker is on a season-long loan at The Hawthorns, though Chelsea have the option of recalling their player during the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old has been in impressive form for the Baggies and, although there have been no discussions, Clarke admitted that he would like to keep Lukaku at the club for the whole season.

"We haven't had any dialogue with Chelsea about Romelu," Clarke told Sky Sports News.

"There is a period in January where they can recall him. Like I said before, we can't affect it, so I prefer not to talk about it.

"I've said all along that the squad I started the season with, I wanted to keep for the whole season. Rom is a part of that squad and, if we can keep him here, that would be great."

Lukaku scored in West Brom's 2-1 loss to Fulham this afternoon.
