Frank Lampard rules out the prospect of defender Andreas Christensen leaving Chelsea over the January transfer window.

Frank Lampard has ruled out the prospect of defender Andreas Christensen leaving Chelsea over the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old has struggled for consistent game time under Lampard so far this term, managing just eight Premier League appearances.

Reports have suggested that AC Milan are interested in doing a deal for Christensen in this window.

When asked about whether he could rule out an exit for the Denmark international, Lampard told the Daily Star: "I can rule it out. I like Andreas as a player; I've always liked him. I used to train with him and saw the talent coming through.

"I want Andreas to be the best he can be. When you see the height, the athleticism and the quality on the ball. The reality is we have competition at centre-back here."

Christensen moved to Stamford Bridge as a 15-year-old in 2012, making his debut for the first team in October 2014.
