Inter Milan chief Steven Zhang claims that the club will have to sell many players this summer to balance the financial books, after the impact of the global pandemic.

Inter Milan chief Steven Zhang has hinted at the possibility of selling a number of players this summer, amid Chelsea's reported interest in Romelu Lukaku.

Despite claiming their first Serie A title in 11 years, Zhang has admitted that Inter Milan are in a difficult financial position due to the ongoing impact of the global pandemic.

Lukaku found good form this season, scoring 24 goals in his 36 Serie A appearances, and he has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge this summer, especially since the departure of Antonio Conte.

Zhang told reporters: "Last summer the pandemic had greatly affected our revenues but we continued with him [Conte], focusing on the season convinced that we could win.

"The decision was right [for Conte to leave], but now the bill brought by the pandemic is such that we cannot fail to review the situation by looking for savings that lead to a future budget balance.

"We must reduce costs and control risks. This obviously also influences the transfer market strategy. Our different views on the situation led to the separation."

Inter Milan will have many players representing their nations this summer across the Euros and the Copa America.
