Head coach Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly happy for Trevoh Chalobah to sign for Tottenham Hotspur in January.
Chalobah has spent the last two seasons in the first team at Stamford Bridge, making a total of 63 appearances in all competitions.
During the club's pre-season tour of the USA, it appeared plausible that his time in the senior ranks could continue.
However, the academy graduate is yet to make a single first-team appearance in 2023-24 courtesy of injury and dropping down the pecking order.
Chelsea would have been happy for the 24-year-old to depart for pastures new in August, only for a move to Bayern Munich or Nottingham Forest failing to materialise.

With a contract until 2028, the player is tied to Chelsea in the long run, yet it has been consistently suggested that there is little prospect of returning to the fold in the foreseeable future.
While a loan cannot be ruled out due to the length of time remaining on his deal, Chelsea would naturally prefer a sale to boost their position with FFP.
According to Football Insider, the door is open for a transfer to Spurs should they step up their interest at the midway point of the campaign.
Although Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have impressed in 2023-24, Ange Postecoglou's backup is Ben Davies and Eric Dier, the latter having less than 12 months remaining on his contract.

Youngster Ashley Phillips is another option, but the England Under-19 international is yet to make his debut in the Premier League.
Despite the rivalry between the two clubs, it is suggested that a transfer could suit all parties at the turn of the year, particularly Chelsea who stand to benefit from generating pure profit in the eyes of FFP.
Bayern may potentially reignite their interest in Chalobah, although a loan deal may be more likely in January, while interest from other English and European teams is expected.
Chalobah has not made a competitive appearance since playing 45 minutes of Chelsea's final game of last season against Newcastle United on May 28.
