Harry Redknapp has urged Tottenham fans not to "get on" Luka Modric if the Croatian doesn't leave the club.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp hopes that Spurs fans don't boo wantaway midfielder Luka Modric.

The Croatian has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane for much of the summer, although a potential £30m switch to Chelsea has yet to materialise.

The 25-year-old was left out of the Tottenham side that lost 3-0 to Manchester United on Monday but has been included in the Spurs squad for their Europa League match with Hearts.

“I wouldn’t want them to get on him," said Redknapp.

“People need to look and understand it all. The easiest thing for me would be to sit here and say, 'He has a contract and he has to get on with it.'

“But put yourself in that position - he sees [Chelsea] bringing all these players in and he thinks that they can win the Premier League and Champions League."

Tottenham lead Hearts 5-0 ahead of the second leg of their Europa League tie at White Hart Lane on Thursday night.
