Report: Atletico Madrid want Fernando Torres on a free

A report claims that Atletico Madrid will attempt to re-sign Fernando Torres on a free transfer from Chelsea.

Atletico Madrid reportedly want to re-sign their former striker Fernando Torres on a free transfer in the January transfer window.

Torres is currently on loan at AC Milan from Chelsea, but it is understood that the Italian club will send the Spaniard back to England in January.

Atletico will be unable to sign the forward on loan due to his spell with Milan, but it is understood that they are still interested.

Chelsea are said to be demanding a small fee, but according to the Daily Mail, Atletico will only make their move if Torres can come to an agreement with Chelsea in terms of paying off the 30-year-old's contract.

Torres represented Atletico's first team between 2001 and 2007 – scoring 91 times in 244 games for the Spanish club.
