Deshorn Brown double secures Colorado Rapids win

The Colorado Rapids record their sixth victory of the MLS season as a brace from Deshorn Brown fires them to a 3-0 win over the Houston Dynamo.

Deshorn Brown notched a brace to fire the Colorado Rapids to a 3-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo in their MLS clash.

The Rapids took the lead in the fifth minute when Marvell Wynne lifted a cross into the box from the right and Brown powered a header into the net.

The home side should have doubled their lead when Dillon Powers raided into the box and lifted the ball into the path of Kamani Hill, who had the chance to slot it into an empty net, but Corey Ashe cleared his effort off the line.

Colorado doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Brown raced onto a through-ball from Powers and he fired a shot low past Tally Hall into the bottom corner.

After the break, the Rapids got their third goal when Powers lifted a corner in from the left and Hill found space to flick a left-footed shot past Hall to put the home side in total command.

The Dynamo came within inches of getting a goal back when Will Bruin raced onto Hall's ball from the back, but his volleyed shot from the edge of the area clattered off the post and bounced clear.

Dillon Serna almost added a fourth late in the game for the home side as Marlon Hairston slid a pass to him inside the box, but his effort also smacked off the woodwork.
