Tony Pulis: Brede Hangeland signing "a no-brainer"

Tony Pulis says that it was "a no-brainer" to sign Brede Hangeland for Crystal Palace this summer, following the defender's release by Fulham.

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis has claimed that it was "a no-brainer" to sign Brede Hangeland this summer.

The Norwegian defender arrived on a free transfer following his relegation with Fulham, and the Eagles manager thinks that the centre-back will have a renewed determination this coming campaign after a disappointing year with the Cottagers.

He told Sky Sports News: "Brede was a free transfer, and he lives in London, so it was a no-brainer really. He didn't have the best of seasons at Fulham, he'll admit that, so I'm sure he's got a point to prove."

Pulis also urged Fraizer Campbell, another recent signing, to improve on his goal return of six for Cardiff City last term when the new season gets underway.

"He's got a Premier League experience," Pulis added. "He's got good pace and the lad has got even more potential than he has shown.

"I'm sure he'll do well. We're hoping he'll score more than [than last season]."

Palace were beaten 3-2 by Brentford on Saturday afternoon in their latest pre-season friendly.
