Neil Warnock: 'Wayne Hennessey wants to play regular football'

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock admits that goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey will not want to continue to play second fiddle to Julian Speroni.

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has conceded that goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey will not want to play second fiddle to Julian Speroni for much longer.

The Wales international, who has been in impressive form for his country in Euro 2016 qualifying, has played just 35 minutes of Premier League football this term.

Warnock says that despite his lack of first-team action, Hennessey's attitude has been positive.

"He has been an absolute gem," the Palace boss told the London Evening Standard. "He has given me a few looks but he has not knocked on my door once. He is a really good goalkeeper and we are fortunate to have him.

"At the moment he is playing in the cups and it can only go on for so long. Wayne will want to be a first-team keeper as soon as possible.

"I watched him for Wales against Belgium, and him and Joe Ledley were fantastic. I felt proud that they were my players. We have got six games between now and January so, at the moment, I am thinking about those."

Hennessey has made four appearances for Palace since his £3m move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January.
