Newcastle United have not formally approached Crystal Palace over a move for defender Nathaniel Clyne, according to Palace co-chairman Steve Parish.
Clyne has been heavily linked with a move to the top flight with Manchester United, as well as Newcastle, reportedly interested in the 21-year-old.
However, Parish said that he has spoken to Newcastle about the sale of Clyne but dismissed speculation that a formal approach has been made.
"I read [the reports] and they are not true," Parish told the South London Press.
"It's completely made up - I hate using those words but they have just got bad information.
"I had a chat to people there a while ago and they do quite like him - but that doesn't mean they are going to buy him."
Despite his young age, Clyne has already made 139 appearances for the Eagles.
