Manchester United are looking to land Crystal Palace's highly-rated defender Nathan Clyne in a cut-price £3m deal.
The 20-year-old's contract is set to expire in the summer, but the Red Devils believe a deal can be done in the January transfer window.
The youngster has impressed once again for the Championship club, leading to interest from a whole host of Premier League sides. However, it seems United are the favourites to land the England youth international as they look for cover in the full-back positions. The Eagles' chairman Steve Parish is well aware of the interest in Clyne and has placed the blame on his agent.
"Nathaniel won't sign a new contract. I have offered him a very lucrative one and I can't force him to accept it," Parish told the London Evening Standard.
"His agent has got Nathaniel running his contract down - make your own mind up about what's happening."
The Premier League champions could face competition from Newcastle, Fulham and Everton for the player's signature.
