FC Dallas and Portland Timbers played out a 1-1 draw at FC Dallas Stadium in their MLS clash.

The visitors should have been ahead in the 16th minute when Kalif Alhassan curled a ball to the back-post for Diego Valeri who shot first time but his effort was well saved by Raul Fernandez.

Fernandez was in action moments later as he did well to tip Frederic Piquionne's effort onto the post before Dallas scrambled the ball away.

After half time, Dallas came out strongly and could have gone ahead but Blas Perez saw his effort well saved by Donovan Ricketts, who tipped his shot past the post.

Perez came close again minutes later as he headed Michel's cross onto the post with Rickettd beaten in the 67th minute.

These misses were to cost the home side as Portland took the lead when Rodney Wallace lifted a cross to the back post and Darlington Nagbe was there to volley the ball into the net.

However, Dallas were not behind for long as they were awarded a penalty when Andrew Jean-Baptiste hauled down Perez in the area. Kenny Cooper fired his spot kick past Ricketts to get his side's equaliser.

Cooper could have won the game for Dallas with five minutes to go but his volley was well saved by Ricketts, as he tipped it over the bar to earn his side a share of the spoils.
