DC United thrash nine-man FC Dallas

DC United thrash FC Dallas, who finish their MLS encounter with nine men.

DC United continued their strong start to their MLS campaign as they came from behind to beat nine-man FC Dallas 4-1 at RFK Stadium.

They hosts trailed early on when Mauro Diaz netted for the Texan outfit, but were given a route back into the game after Zach Lloyd was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

That left Dallas with more than 50 minutes to play with 10 men, but their lead only lasted a mere six minutes before DC were back on terms.

In first half stoppage time, Fabian Espindola pulled a goal back after neat build build-up play between Eddie Johnson and Nick DeLeon for United.

By the hour mark, the hosts had taken the lead thanks to Bobby Boswell and, from that point, the side from the capital never looked back.

They added a third on 64 minutes when Espindola crossed for Sean Franklin, who tucked the ball beyond the grasp of Dallas keeper Chris Seitz.

The Argentine forward then bagged his second of the game when he latched onto Chris Rolfe's pass to rifle the ball home.

Dallas's misery was complete in the dying minutes when Michel was given a straight red card for fighting.

It's a result that keeps DC in contention at the top of the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Dallas are still level of points with Seattle Sounders at head of the Western Conference.
