Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson has revealed that Peter Houston could remain as the club's manager for next season only if he accepts new terms.
Houston, whose current contract with the Scottish side runs out at the end of the season, has been given permission to talk to Blackpool.
"But only if he accepts my terms," Thompson told BBC Sport when asked about the 54-year-old's future at Tannadice Park beyond next summer.
"I've been chairman for four-and-a-half years with 10 years' board experience," he added. "I know exactly what kind of manager I want if Peter goes."
Houston was appointed the United manager in 2009.
