Leighton Baines looking for more chances to impress for England

Everton defender Leighton Baines is hopeful that he will get more chances to impress for England if he keeps up his club form.

Everton defender Leighton Baines is hopeful that he can establish himself as England's full-time left-back if he continues to play well in the Premier League.

Chelsea's Ashley Cole will earn his 100th cap for the Three Lions in their friendly match against Brazil on Wednesday, which marks the 150th anniversary of the English Football Association.

Baines told FATV: "Ash is on for his 100th cap now, it's well deserved and hopefully he'll get that tomorrow.

"I'll just keep plugging away and keep doing the best that I can for my club, if that brings chances for my country as well I'll be happy with that."

Baines has made 13 appearances for England since making his debut in 2010, and has scored one goal.
