England captain Steven Gerrard has heaped praised on Ashley Cole on the eve of his 100th appearance for the Three Lions.
Manager Roy Hodgson confirmed this afternoon that the Chelsea full-back would start against Brazil at Wembley Stadium, which will see him reach triple figures in terms of appearances.
Speaking about that achievement, Gerrard revealed that Cole is "the most consistent player" that he has played alongside at international level.
"He deserves to be in there. I look at the players that I have played with throughout my career and he has probably been the most consistent player in an England shirt," Gerrard told reporters.
"At times he has proven that he is one of the best left-backs in the world."
Liverpool midfielder Gerrard also reached the 100 milestone last time out against Poland.
