Gary Cahill expecting pressure on England

Gary Cahill believes that there will be plenty of pressure on England when they face Norway at Wembley Stadium tonight.

England defender Gary Cahill has claimed that there will be plenty of pressure on the team when they return to action against Norway tonight.

The Three Lions play their first match since their disappointing World Cup campaign in Brazil as they welcome the Norwegians to Wembley Stadium for a friendly.

While admitting that there is nothing at stake this evening, Cahill is eager for England to make a return to winning ways following a run of three draws and two defeats.

"I think there's going to be a lot of pressure on the squad because of the disappointment in the summer, there's no shying away from that," the 28-year-old is quoted as saying by the Football Association's official website.

"People are going to be looking to us for a reaction. In that sense, it's no different to club level after a defeat, especially one you feel you shouldn't have lost – you look to respond in the next game.

"So, this is the next game – it might be a friendly, but we want a response and a victory. We want to get that feel-good factor back again, for both the players and the fans."

Cahill has scored three goals in 27 appearances for the England national team.
