Newcastle United interim coach John Carver believes that Alan Pardew has all the right attributes to become England manager in the future.
The 53-year-old was appointed Crystal Palace boss last month after spending four years at the helm of St James' Park alongside Carver.
Roy Hodgson currently occupies the Three Lions role, but Carver is confident that his former colleague could handle the pressure that comes with coaching the national side.
"Alan can definitely be a future England manager because he has the temperament," the Shields Gazette quotes Carver as saying. "The England manager gets criticised by everyone.
"He only has two competitions he can win - the World Cup and Euros, and they're only every two years. There would be big pressure on, but he could deal with it."
The two coaches will come face to face in tomorrow night's clash between Palace and Newcastle at Selhurst Park.
