Darren Anderton: 'Harry Kane deserves England call-up'

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Darren Anderton believes that Harry Kane deserves a call-up to the England squad.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Darren Anderton has expressed his belief that Harry Kane deserves a place in the England squad.

The 21-year-old scored a brace on Saturday to help Spurs beat fierce rivals Arsenal 2-1 in the North London derby at White Hart Lane.

Kane has been an ever-present in Gareth Southgate's England Under-21 squad, but Anderton says that he is ready to make the step up to the senior side.

"Roy Hodgson has got to put Harry Kane in his England squad," he told talkSPORT. "He's been outstanding.

"The improvement that we've seen from here this year has been incredible. He's got stronger and quicker, he can play as an out and out number nine and is scoring goals for fun.

"His basic link-up play is very good as well. He fully deserves an England call-up."

Kane has scored 22 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions this season.
