England captain Wayne Rooney has claimed that the national side have an "exciting" squad, but it is too early to consider their chances for next summer's European Championships in France.
Roy Hodgson's side, who qualified for the finals with a 100% record, will play Spain and France in friendlies over the next five days.
"I think we've all been here before, before major tournaments," Rooney told reporters in this afternoon's press conference. "We know we have a good, exciting squad but it is still young and we need to improve if we are to compete. This is what we are trying to do in training and these games."
Rooney will sit out of tomorrow's match in Alicante, but will start against France at Wembley on Tuesday.
