England Under-21 international Thomas Ince has admitted that his side's early exit from the European Championship after losing their first two Group A games was "not good enough".
Stuart Pearce's men went down 3-1 to Norway on Saturday, three days after being beaten 1-0 by Italy and as such cannot qualify from the group.
"The first half, we dominated play, but we can't afford to give away silly goals like that," Ince told Sky Sports News. "You can't go 2-0 down in these games.
"At half time, we had to revive and had to get going again. We started the second half brightly, but then it was another silly goal to concede and at 3-0 down it's so difficult.
"After the defeat against Italy, we had to come here with a positive energy and I think we did that. We just didn't create enough chances on goal. It's a major disappointment. It's really not good enough from an England team."
Pearce was also critical of his side after the defeat.
