England Under-21 striker Connor Wickham says that the team 'have let their country down'.

England Under-21 striker Connor Wickham has admitted that the team are 'devastated' with their early exit from the European Championships.

The Three Lions, who failed to win a single match in Israel, finished bottom of Group A behind Italy, Norway and the hosts.

"It's devastation. I don't think that there are going to be any players that are proud of what we have done," Wickham told Sky Sports News.

"We have let our country down, but ultimately we have let ourselves down. Coming into the tournament we had a lot of confidence and we had strength in numbers. Clearly when it came down to it we weren't good enough."

England boss Stuart Pearce will meet the Football Association this week to decide his future.
