Roy Hodgson: 'England are studying Italy at training camp'

England manager Roy Hodgson reveals that the squad are studying video footage of Italy at their Portugal training base to prepare for their World Cup opener on June 14.

Roy Hodgson has revealed that England are preparing for their World Cup opener against Italy by analysing video footage at their Portugal training camp.

The Three Lions are currently practising in the Algarve to prepare for the tropical climate of Manaus, where they face Cesare Prandelli's side in Group D on June 14.

Italy knocked England out of the 2012 European Championships, and Hodgson has admitted that he and his squad are already plotting how best to take revenge at this summer's tournament in Brazil.

"We are doing a lot of video work in Portugal and we will be showing the players in units aspects of the Italian game and how that affects us and what we are going to be wanting to do," he told reporters.

"We are not doing it as individual players. We are talking about how our midfield is going to attack or defend. It will be all the midfielders and not just the four or five who we might choose."

Hodgson has also revealed that he is undecided on his starting XI to face the Italians.
