UEFA confirms that Everton and Hajduk Split have been fined over crowd trouble in their Europa League playoff first leg at Goodison Park last month.

Everton and Hajduk Split have been fined by UEFA over crowd trouble in their Europa League playoff game at Goodison Park last month.

Play was held up for four minutes during the first half of the first-leg match on August 17 when away fans spilled out of their section and tried to gain access to the Park End.

UEFA's disciplinary body has fined the Premier League side €10,000 (£8,866) for "the throwing of objects", while Hajduk's array of charges has resulted in a €40,000 (£35,322) penalty.

The Croatian club has also been ordered to contact Everton within 30 days to pay "for the settlement of the damages caused by its supporters", with a number of seats damaged during the trouble.

Everton won the first leg 2-0 before sealing progress to the group stages of the competition with a 1-1 draw at the Stadion Poljud.
